The University of Bahrain Library organised an “Open Day” at its Central Library in Sakhir on Monday 24th March 2008 at 10:00 am. Similar events also took place at the Science and IT Library on March 31st and at the Engineering and Applied Studies Library on April 7th 2008.
The Open Day was an opportunity to inform students and academic staff about the various services and information resources that the library provides to its users. This includes a book collection of more than 212,000 books and other documents in print and microform in various subject fields to support the teaching and research activities of the University of Bahrain.
The library also provides an extensive Electronic Library accessible from the university's website.

This electronic library includes full-text articles from more than 12,000 academic journals and over 38,000 electronic books in Arabic and English.
During this Open Day event, a team of Subject Librarians presented the latest books, journals and electronic materials recently added to the library collections.
They also demonstrated the search methods used to find information in various databases and the Internet; ways of evaluating information sources as well as techniques of source referencing. These are considered to be crucial skills that every student and researcher needs to acquire in order to become a successful contributor to the knowledge society.
